Jewelry making has been on hold for quite sometime, but now I am happy to announce that FINALLY, after almost a YEAR my raptor enclosure is COMPLETED!!! WHOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! It was no easy task, and I can say that to build one of these things (or any wild animal enclosure) requires that you follow a LOT of rules & regulations! Not only does it have to be built up to the "species specific" standards of California Fish & Wildlife's regulations-which also goes along with IWRC (International Wildlife Rehabilitation Council) standards, it also had to be built "up to code" by the city's regulations as well, and the 2 have nothing to do with each other & have their own rules. Therefore, it was a balancing act to build this thing to fall within the city's guidelines to not be in violation & fall into trouble with them, get fined, etc. & building it to be able to properly house rehabilitating raptors sufficiently & legally. This = lots of research, some re-building, lots of back & forth, paperwork, inspections, re-inspections, lots of waiting, & an overall huge pain in the butt! I thought it would never end! Now I have FINALLY gotten the official GREENLIGHT!!! The enclosure has passed all of the needed inspections, the paperwork went through and was approved by California Fish & Wildlife, & I am now an "OFFICIAL" satellite location approved for home rehabilitation of 6 different species of native California raptors (both hawks & owls)! How COOL is that???? AMAZING!!! I am THRILLED to say the least!
I thank you all for your patience! ~C*
(Check it out below-cool, eh'? I even painted the outside of it!)
