PEACE, LOVE, & Best wishes,
As 2018 year comes to a close, I would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who took the time to check out my jewelry & art on https://society6.com/chiekstar/collection & for any kind & supportive words that were expressed. I have never aimed towards any financial gain or recognition by any of the art I do, but simply to use various mediums as tools & vehicles of my own personal expressions. Nothing more, nothing less. For those who get anything out of it, I am humbled & thankful! ALL proceeds from any of your purchases goes directly to funding my volunteer raptor rehabbing (as various supplies, food, & medications are needed which I purchase myself for the most part). To date, I have rehabbed 40 owls, all of which were able to be released back into the wild (except for 1 whose injuries were too severe, unfortunately). I sincerely THANK YOU for helping me to help them! I hope you all have a Happy New Year & that 2019 will be a good year for us all! I will be making more/new designs next year, so stay tuned!
PEACE, LOVE, & Best wishes,
(Western Screech owl released on 11/10/18)
FINALLY! new designs are being uploaded! check in often, because I really only have time to upload a few a week! my new designs are a bit more "elemental" in their inspirations & based more on visionary expression than catering to broad range tastes. i've only just begun, so there is much more to come!
i also designed brand new business cards, which are a much better reflection of the spirit of ornaments of expression. it was time for something new, so i was thrilled that a couple of old pencil sketches of mine could be turned into something so cool. the cards are double-sided even! woop! woop! check them out!
thanks to everyone for your patience! it hasn't been easy to make time for jewelry design at all, but i'm trying to make time as much as possible in between everything else. thank you to everyone who donated to esther the pig's cause! they indeed did raise enough money for the scanner, & she had her scans & some cancerous tumors removed. she is doing well & the scanner will be of great benefit to all large animals in canada. it's so awesome to have a happy outcome because of so many caring & generous people who donated (myself included!). go esther! did i mention that pig's rule?
Hi everyone! I have always been into donating to great causes if you are able, whether it's your time, resources, or cash. I believe it is a huge part of what fuels our "humanity" & connectivity to each other, the amazing plants & animals we share our lives with & the planet as a whole. Whether you donate yearly for tax write offs, or just to help, I ask you to please consider donating to the Esther Scanner Fundraiser. The story of Esther the Wonder Pig is an amazing example of what can be achieved with love, dedication, & commitment, & the great things that can come out of it as a result. Esther has touched the lives of many, & she & her dads continue to inspire people all over the globe. When Esther became ill, she wasn't able to get the treatment she needed because it currently isn't available. With help, this can be changed. So please consider donating to this important cause.
The University of Guelph is one of the leading veterinary colleges in Ontario, Canada & surprisingly, no one in Canada has a large animal CT scanner to help in their diagnosis & veterinary care. This is a huge deal, considering the amount of moose, bison, elk & other large animals such as horses & livestock that are there as native wildlife & otherwise. These large animals which have needed veterinary care have been without the aid of one of the most important pieces of equipment in standard medical diagnostics, so the impact of being able to attain a large CT scanner would be enormous. So many animals would benefit greatly from this, & in many cases save their lives from an unnecessary euthanization. There is no minimum amount set for donations, so anything (even $1) will help them to reach their goal. Here is a link to the donation page & also a link to the Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary, (the rescue that Esther's dads created & run). It is a wonderful place run by wonderful people & dedicated volunteers! There you can read all about the animals they house & Esther's story. Thank you for taking the time to read & for the record: PIGS RULE!!!
PEACE, LOVE, ESTHER!

I'm happy to announce that I am now featuring some of my artwork & various photographs on SOCIETY 6! I will be uploading new pieces there as time permits. Go check it out if you like, THANKS! :)
You can also follow Ornaments of Expression & C*Designs on INSTAGRAM now:
Here's a quick pic of another necklace w/matching earrings that I donated to All Parrot Rescue for one of their online fundraising auctions. Just something fun & simple with toucans! How can you not love toucans?! They're the coolest! :)
I hope everyone is surviving the rocky start of 2017 in the U.S.! Lots of weirdness going on out there. For the first time, I have actually considered moving to Canada! You never know...
New designs are coming soon. I actually started an Instagram page for Ornaments of Expression, but as far as Facebook goes, I've abandoned it at this point. Too many annoying ads & such on there. Al the hawk has been coming around daily for food,& now he/she is sitting on a nest somewhere. I wonder if I will ever see one of Al's offspring come around? That would be cool! :D I rehabbed & released 2 more owls since my last post. Both were pretty critical, but they pulled through & made a full recovery! Yaaaay! I've also recently taken on more volunteer work for the wildlife center, as they are doing some new projects now. Spring is here now too (THE BUSY SEASON)! Baby birds are on the way! More in the future...
Take care everyone! Peace,
I can't believe 2016 is already almost over! I've sort of been on "hiatus" as it's been a weird year filled with various family & friend deaths, a couple of badly injured owls to rehab, & contracting a weird illness myself, (which seems to be over with now). That's how it goes sometimes, plus my life continues to be filled with odd surreal events. "Odd" is "normal" from what I can tell at this point. I admit that I have devoted ZERO time to this page & all that goes along with it. Facebook recently banned me from my accounts for not being a conformist, so I guess I need to deal with that at some point (haha), but it's such a tedious thing for me to create all new pages that I haven't even started.
On another note, there's is a new wild Cooper's Hawk friend who I've named "Al" that has been visiting me for a couple years now. One day he just appeared in the back yard wanting food (as I was breeding live mice at the time for the owls). He was clearly a juvenile hawk & simply wouldn't leave, so I finally caved & fed him. He's been coming back ever since! Now an adult, he hunts on his own, but when he's not so successful he comes around for a meal & sometimes he just comes to check in with me. Interestingly, whenever I dream of him he is there that morning & whenever I feel sad, he shows up. We definitely have some sort of connection going on. Maybe I really do have bird blood in me? Haha. There's now also a wild screech owl which comes at sunset almost daily & sits on a branch & looks at me for awhile before flying away. I have actually wondered if it is an owl that I rehabbed & released somewhere nearby?
Unfortunately, there's only so much time in a day, & between my "regular job" in (human-related) healthcare , rehabbing sick & injured raptors, & taking care of my animal companions in the house, that doesn't leave a whole lot of time left over. Perhaps I misjudged how much time & effort doing 10 things at once take? It's the curse of the multitasker I guess! At any rate, it will soon be time to get working on some new pieces as I've been accumulating all kinds of cool beads & have a bunch of ideas for them. Maybe I'll even have time to do some drawing & painting again (yeah, right)...I can dream though, can't I? So, dream I do, (& if all goes well) 2017 will have some new & interesting things coming up!
(Al hanging out on the patio. He will sit here & wait patiently for me until I give him something to eat. Sometimes he would sit all day until I come home from work! YES, he is 100% wild & he simply does what he wants to do. Evidently, we can share the raptor frequency of communication, so we're friends now & have a mutual understanding. Most people can hardly believe it & I have no other explanation for it. It just is & I adore him!)
ORNAMENTS OF EXPRESSION custom jewelry would like to thank everyone who participated in All Parrot Rescue's online auction! All proceeds go to helping their birds in need! Congratulations to the winning bidder of the 18" "Tigger" African Grey parrot inspired necklace! Thank you for bidding & I hope you will enjoy the necklace as much as I enjoyed creating it! :)
I would also like to thank those who bidded on the blue swallow bolero necklace for the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley's fundraiser event! Congrats also go out to the winner of this one. Huge thanks to all who take the time to support your local non-profit animal rescues! Your help and donations make a big difference & help to keep these places open!
Keep up the support!
All Parrot Rescue's online auction will take place this Sunday May 17th. I believe it goes for a few days, so go check out all the goodies they have (besides the necklace I donated to them)! You need to add their Facebook group to attend the auction.
Here's a pic of the 18" artglass African Grey parrot "Tigger" inspired necklace that will be available:
The silent auction for the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley's "Jewels in Flight" fundraiser is also this Sunday, May 17th (oddly enough). Here's a pic of the blue artglass bolero style necklace with swallow pendants I made & donated to them:
All proceeds from both necklaces go to the care of the animals. Thanks, & good luck! ~C*
I am happy to announce that I will also be contributing to the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley's silent auction to take place during their "Jewels in Flight" annual fundraiser. I will be making another one of a kind necklace specifically for the event (I will post pictures of both of my donation necklaces soon.) WCSV rehabs and releases thousands of animals each year, & your donations help to make that possible! If you are interested in attending, here is the information http://www.wcsv.org/jewels-in-flight/
